A LIBERATOR-SOLDIER’S STORY
Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Seymour Kaplan was 17 years old when he enlisted during WWII. He served as a machine gunner with the 692nd Tank Destroyer Battalion attached to the 42nd Infantry Division, and he was among the liberators of the Dachau Concentration Camp. Mr. Kaplan is one of the last surviving U.S. military eyewitnesses to the liberation of Dachau.
